Barton Grange Garden Centre - Destination Garden Centre of the Year 2015

Barton Grange Garden Centre at Brock near Preston has won the highly prestigious Destination Garden Centre of the Year Award 2015 from the Garden Centre Association for the fourth year in a row.

No other UK garden centre has ever won this award for four consecutive years. The award confirms the Preston-based, family-run business as the best large garden centre in the UK.

The announcement was made at the annual GCA conference at Carden Park near Chester on Tuesday 27th January.

The Garden Centre was judged and marked by the GCA on everything from its car park and plant area to restaurants and toilets. Judges looked at the customer service, staff, product range, quality of produce, merchandising, creativity of displays and more

Not every hotel has its own Garden Centre, but we do (it’s a family thing!) Barton Grange Garden Centre sits just 2 miles north of the hotel at Brock. It has a fabulous all-weather outdoor plant area, an indoor sales area packed with stylish ideas for your home and garden, a Farm Shop, café and restaurant. There’s even a narrow boat marina - truly a garden centre with a difference!

Just a few minutes drive to the south you’ll find the city of Preston, home to a vibrant mix of museums, restaurants and an eclectic combination of modern shopping centres, traditional shopping streets and bustling markets. Escape the hustle and bustle in one of its many parks, stroll along the River Ribble or ride the restored steam railway along the riverside track.

A 20-minute drive will take you to the seaside resort of Blackpool, famous for its Tower, Pleasure Beach and Zoo. Here you’ll find an abundance of family friendly attractions, theatres, shops and markets as well as several miles of sandy beaches. And between the end of August and the beginning of November, Blackpool’s Illuminations light up the promenade in spectacular style.

Whether you like to walk, cycle or just sightsee, there’s no shortage of scenic countryside to explore in this area. The Beacon Fell Country Park, the Forest of Bowland and the Ribble Valley are all within easy driving distance and you could even be in the Lake District in just over an hour.

For wildlife enthusiasts, Brockholes Nature Reserve is just 20 minutes away, while the Martin Mere Wetland Centre takes around 40 minutes. History lovers can revel in Lancaster’s Georgian architecture or ancient houses such as the supposedly haunted Samlesbury Hall or the fortified manor house of Hoghton Tower (each around 20-25 minutes away).

Deepdale football ground, home of Preston North End is just a 10-minute drive away, while a trip to the Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club, the venue for many major tournaments, takes around 30 minutes.
